There really was a time when food growing flew under the radar. Then it was a cheap way to acquire organically grown food we couldn’t afford to buy.

A few decades ago, however, food gardening became fashionable. Once that happened, $30 counter top compost buckets and $50 “raised beds” (really just four boards and little plastic dolollies for making them into a square) became common.
