Meditation Sonnet

I closed my eyes and in that vision saw
A lotus growing from where once had been
My brow–and dancing lilies from my breasts,
My body turned to one great field of green.
Then spreading from my belly, every flower
And plant from seeds that I had once consumed,
What had been food for me now had became
Its food and with my flesh as soil it bloomed.
The jasmine vines and honeysuckle trails
That grew between what had once been my thighs
Strained toward the light that nourished all this growth
And thus revealed what lay in that wide sky:
Your self as Sun to all the flowers that grew
From me to celebrate the life in you.
