Orbit Around Light
1 min readFeb 26, 2020
it’s all love
Light is no mere metaphor
Yet it shines from your eyes,
Wakes the sleeping flowers,
Calls birdsong from the night.
Sunlight is real, concrete,
Even so my orbit describes
An ellipse around the star
You made shine in my night.
Stars are far from us and cold
But your breath and hands create
A wash of sparkling warmth
To light my darkness.
And darkness is a simple fact
Contradicted by every empty corner
Now filled with wreaths of song
Dancing to your rhythm in brightness.
So let me also dance and sing now
For as long as those cold stars shine
For your brightness, for your warmth,
For you, for you, for you.
